In preparation for the release of DA:Inquisition, I am playing through DA:O, all DLC campaigns and also plan to play and complete DA:2 before I start on Inquisition. It's been so long since I've played through the DA games so I want the lore, characters and backstory to be fresh in my mind once I begin Inq.

So with a nominal 40 to 60 hours for the main game, you're looking at 70 to 120 hours on Nightmare total for the full GOTY. People have completed the main game in as little as 3 hours, and the DLCs in less than 1 hour each on Nightmare, but you have to skip a lot of stuff to get down that low. It would probably let you do the tutorial mission and then probably parts of the first area. I've also never encountered any bugs or major glitching while playing a game that's still downloading and I get almost all my games through digital download. So yes, you can play when it unlocks while the rest downloads. #5.
If you do the DLC's before ending the game those dialogues change and get adjusted. :) I prefer doing them before the end because I love some of the craft materials I get.

DA2 is not necessary to play whatsoever. DA2 is worth it to play insofar as you can hack the bejeezus out of it with the console function on the PC version. It makes the story a tiny bit more tolerable when you can annihilate whole hordes of bandits in seconds and cut a huge amount of time out.

The only big "must do" dlc for dragon age so far are Awakening (for origins) and Legacy (for dragon age two). All the others have fairly small impact on the plot, and the impact is mostly only on dragon age inquisition. To be honest, you do not need to play anything other than maybe origins to play dragon age two, it is just nicer to have
